“Super Skunk Marijuana  is a plant especially developed for Skunk lovers. Super skunk is a beefy skunk #1. We have crossed our best Skunks to their Afghani ancestors. Brush against this plant and the room becomes immediately filled with powerful Skunk aroma. It’s famous for it’s potent flavor and aromatic high. Despite the smell a very pleasant high with a little more body to it than the Skunk #1. One of the winners of the 1990 High Times Harvest Festival where it clearly defeated Skunk #1.”

To say blackberry taste was present, would not be accurate. This was among the best Blackberry Kush I have been able to use, at the point of this review.

Tahoe OG Kush

Posted by on Feb 7, 2010 in Hybrids | 11 comments

OG Is one of the strongest cannabis strains in the medical marijuana community. THC contents have been tested to be anywhere from 24-28% THC. Many Medical Marijuana patients choose OG Kush Primarily for Sleep and pain relieving attributes. The true origin of “OG Kush” isn’t really clear, too many stories which don’t relate at all. Judging by its growth structure and its similarities to other “Kush’s”, this strain actually might be a land-race Kush from the middle east of its own. From personal experience, growing out many different strains and phenotypes’ given to me by veteran growers going back all the way to the early 70’s tell me that “OG KUSH”was introduced to the US ` longer than most growers believe. There are several Phenotypes’ of OG Kush being circulated around the United States. Many popular OG versions would be the Larry, Tahoe and SFV OG (San Fernando Valley OG).

OG Kush can get easy to grow indoors once you have dialed in your environment. The vegetative stage for OG is most important when considering Yield, the attribute which OG lacks the most indoors. Super-cropping is a great technique to use with OG as it grows. This simple method can make your plant strong and ready to hold the dense buds of OG. Squeezing the stem until it crimps is the right idea. To create that even canopy, always super-crop the tallest branches of the plant, an inch under the top. The OG’s growth structure lacks the strength most cannabis strains have which is a solid stalk. “viney” and stretchy would be the best way to describe the growth. The overall goal is to create a solid canopy not to dense, but enough to absorb the distribution of light. This is where super cropping plays a vital role to achieve that “Sea of green” canopy. A tomato trellis is commonly used when growing OG, one for the vegetative stage and another if needed for the flowering stage. OG tends to triple its length once in flowering stage. Overall node spacing would be 4-6 inches depending on Light intensity near the end of the flowering Phase. It takes a full ten weeks to finish OG (including the flushing stage). The average most experienced growers keep OG in the vegetative stage is 2-3 weeks with horizontal reflected HID lighting to maximize yield. OG grows much more solid and stronger under natural sunlight. It is an enormous difference in difficulty comparing from indoor to outdoor, outdoor preferably for OG Kush.

Nutrients can play a vital role when growing any plant. Preferably to achieve maximum potency, aroma, and flavor is to grow organically. Using organic methods of fertilizer is ideal when growing any kind of medicinal or edible plant. Since we’re dealing with OG here, it is important to keep Phosphorus and Potassium levels above average in the flowering stage, using many types of guano, worm castings compost tea’s etc.

Growing the non organic way using petroleum based nutrients is the other option. It can be noted that chemical nutrients have proved to increase growth and yield but not necessarily potency or quality. Og generally needs 700-1000 PPM’s of a balanced Calcium and Magnesium enriched nutrient solution. 5.5-6.0 pH would be desirable allowing some fluctuation within the given pH range. Giving more concentration of nutrient surpassing the 1000PMM mark is not recommended due to experienced slower growth and overall lower yield. Depending on lighting, and certain nutrient, PPMs. will vary, but the general rule for most popular chemical based nutrients is under 1000PPMs.

OG is very prone to Powdery Mildew, and also hermaphidite traits when surpassing ten weeks of indoor flowering. Most breeders have encountered problems finding phenotypes having auto flowering and hermaphidite traits.

When OG is finished one can agree that the general aroma of OG is lemony/fuel, lemon aroma being the most dominant feature when it comes to the smell. The taste matches its fragrance, very lemony with earthy undertones. OG Kush is generally used by patients with sleeping disorders or for general pain relief.

Chem-4

Posted by on Feb 23, 2009 in Hybrids | 7 comments

I have access to Clones of the original chem-4 from JoeBrand.   My caregiver grew out this very stuff, and it was some of the most potent buds I’ve ever had. Super pungent, almost sour along with the sweet smell OG Kush has.  Immediate sensory alteration. Its has the high of a hard hitting sativa but carries along the nice subtle indica effects that most patients seek. Definitely a head stone. Be ready for your cranium to blast off of your shoulders into the stratosphere.  Be warned if your not doing much you might doze off with your shoes on. Nice thick blanketed feeling on your body.  For both, indica and sativa lovers.

This strain may benefit patients with any chronic illness, Glaucoma, Chronic Pain, Sleeping issues, eating disorders, Diabetes, Apnea, Asthma, Bi-Polar Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Migraines, GastroIntestinal issues, Crohns disease, Muscle spasms, Arthritis

At a Grateful Dead show at Deer Creek Amphitheatre, ‘joebrand’ (aka ‘wonkanobe’) and ‘pbud’ met ‘chemdog’ and sold him an ounce of very high quality pot for $500. joe and chemdog exchanged numbers and they later arranged for two ounces to be shipped to chemdog on the east coast. According to chemdog, one ounce was seedless and the other had 13 seeds.

In ’91, chemdog popped the first 4 seeds. From these seeds, one male was found and disposed of (chemdog was young, you can’t blame him). The 3 females were labeled ‘chemdawg’ (now ’91 chemdawg), ‘chemdawg a’ (now chemdawg’s sister), and ‘chemdawg b’. In ’01, chemdog and his girlfriend attempted to germ 3 more seeds, labeled ‘c’, ‘d’, and ‘e’. the ‘e’ seed never germinated, ‘c’ turned out to be junk (according to chemdog), and chemdawg ‘d’ was the keeper. In ’06, ‘chemdog’ and ‘joebrand’ reunited and joe was given 4 of the last 6 beans: Chemdawg phenos 1-4, ’4′ being the chosen keeper. Joe thought the ’4′ was the best representation of the original and thus dubbed it the ‘reunion pheno’. Chemdog still has two seeds left in his stash.

Chem 4 Grows very similar to OG kush only with a bit more Vigor. Super cropping is highly suggested. Chem 4 has a tight bud structure with a large cola build. Chem 4 should be taken 10 weeks. See OG Kush for more details.

Headband

Posted by on Jan 24, 2009 in Hybrids | 3 comments

Headband is supposedly a cross of OG Kush (a pheno of Chemdawg) and Sour D [(Chemdawg x Mass Super Skunk/NL)x DNL] which are both very popular in the Cali club scene. I would say that this strain leans mostly towards it’s Sour D side in flavor but more towards OG in high. The smell is quite strong with a fruity citrus smell that did not need to be squeezed to enjoy. This strain carried an initial sativa high that was good for focus and homework, however I did find myself getting pretty sleepy towards the end of the high. I think this would really benefit anyone with fatigue or mild depression. Like I said above, I found it really good for homework…two hours of homework and then an immanent break.

I would say this strain is right up there with it’s parents and it would be a hard choice if presented all three. I would say choose the best looking but I think Sour D is more of an Indica than the OG.

Wow Bikesair, your reviews are just awsome! I appreciate the good detail, it could help so many people. Do you have a good pic of headband?
