As most of the public in New York know, that the Rockefeller drug policies are just unfair and insane. Passed in 1973 at the urging of Gov. Nelson Rockefeller, New York’s Rockefeller drug laws established harsh mandatory sentences for people convicted of selling or possessing relatively small amounts of schedule I drugs(Marijuana, Cocaine, etc.) This “Drop the Rock” Campaign has been going on since the early 1990’s. The fall of Eliot Spitzer caused by his prostitution scandals, shines new light upon drug reform. Not only has this been a spending issue for the state, but also a widely known racial bias for the Blacks and Latinos. Now with a state budget, it is only right to reduce the spending of these harsh drug policies, and accept the truth that the “Drug War” is just wasteful. Marc Emery, the West Coast marijuana advocate who faces a possible life sentence in America for opening a mail-order marijuana seed business out of his Vancouver headquarters. The Canadians are so angered by their own government for even considering extraditing emery over to the US to spend life in prison. His case settled to keep him in canada but now it is a different story. Not only the marijuana community, but the public as well is outraged. Many are against Emery due to the common brainwashed public believing marijuana to be a dangerous drug. They believe he is an evil man dealing drugs so they want the worst punishment for him.

Earlier this year Emery was able to arrange a plea bargain with U.S. prosecutors that would see him accept a 10-year sentence on their charges, of which he would serve half. Under the deal his co-accused colleagues would go free and Emery would serve (more…)

It has always bothered me that at most working facilities, Medical Marijuana is not accepted as medicine, therefore still being considered a dangerous drug. What all this means is that employers are faced with a real dilemma. They are expected to work with their ill or injured employees. Yet at the same time, they have a responsibility to provide a safe workplace - but now, with the presence of a drug that’s not well understood. The two court cases may clarify the balance of these responsibilities.

This leads to a person either getting fired, or not hired at all. When jobs require drug tests, and find that THC (the main chemical in Marijuana) has been found in the test, Medical Marijuana cannot be used as an excuse.

There are exceptions due to working environment and are understandable and of course many jobs require that no medicine that can cause ones abilities to be impaired to be used in the working area due to machinery or something related in that nature. But many people are not even able to get jobs due to this.

I just really want to find out who really does believe that Marijuana should just be kept for home medicinal use, or should be accepted by the public and the working community as a medical requirement by a person. Take the poll and vote, lets see what everyone thinks about this one!

When the New Hampshire House of Representatives voted to decriminalize the possession of small amounts of marijuana, it was the first time the legislative body approved reducing the penalty for having pot.

 But the bill is unlikely to become law. It has little support in the Senate, and Governor John Lynch has said that he will veto this bill if it reaches his desk and now requested that this matter to be on pause. “it sends the wrong message to the state’s young people about the dangers of drugs” What a load of crap!

This is probebly because about a week ago after the bill was passed, Deputy Scott Burns said that New Hampshire House Bill 1623, which would decriminalize the possession of 1/4th ounce, would legalize the “manufacturing” and “distributing” of “over 90 marijuana joints.” Everyone knows these statments are just false! its just another way to keep the Anti-marijuana movement alive. The New Hapshire bill doesn’t even decrimanalize the sale of marijuana at all. Deputy Scott Burns just dug himself in lies. Now everyone will know.

The bill makes possession of a quarter of an ounce or less of cannabis a civil violation of $200 fine, instead of going to jail and paying fines up to $2,500. So Governor Lynch believes it is a good idea to keep these ridiculous laws. Obviously he is from the old generation of the brainwashed society. The force is just to strong to just ignore the marijuana situations of today. Though the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee recommended against passage of the law, the bill passed the full House, 193 to 141, on March 18.

Also, Representative Barney Frank said last week that he will  file a bill in the US House to legalize “small amounts” of marijuana. Nobody was more surprised when the New Hampshire House passed the bill than Jeffrey Fontas, the 21-year-old Democrat from Nashua who cosponsored the legislation.

“Many people told us that it wouldn’t pass, but it did. I think it was because of the way we framed the argument. Mistakes early in life, like a possession charge, can be devastating to the futures of our young people,” he said, adding that a single drug arrest can lead to the loss of a college scholarship, the ability to serve in the military, and the chance to qualify for subsidized housing and food stamps.

The voters of California said yes, the federal government says no. Tuesday supporters of medical marijuana are saying enough. They want the feds to stop what they claim is the unabated harassment of medical marijuana dispensaries and the patient that use them. Christina. Many in Compton, North Hollywood, and Los Angeles area rally to protest the DEA raids on local medical marijuana dispensaries in downtown. A doctors office that offers medical marijuana recommendation was raided by the DEA and all medical history and records were taken. Even the medical office next door was also raided and its medical history seized. The federal government says that even though California and many other states have passed the bill to legalize medical marijuana, it is still a Federal Crime. Hopefully Rep. Barney Frank and Norml as a team push the new bill Barney Frank has written to finally Decriminalize Marijuana by federal law.

This is just the ways the federal government twists the constitution, stating that under federal law its illigal but clearly through the constitution we all have the right of medical marijuana if our states pass the bills to accept it. After long debates regarding federal law and state law, Barney Frank still defends to decriminalize Marijuana as of today march 24 2008.  Frank says it should be left to the state to agree if drug policies should exist or not, and not up to the federal government. Franks says he is following the written constitution that: State’s can create their own laws and policies, and should be followed if a resident of the state. The DEA says that federal law is top priority, than state law.

 Frank, who filed a bill to decriminalize marijuana as a member of the Massachusetts Legislature in the 1970s, said the decision whether to make possession of the drug illegal should be left up to the states. He also said the federal government shouldn’t have a law on the books that is rarely enforced and which doesn’t make sense to large portions of the public. “Do you really think people should be prosecuted for smoking marijuana? I don’t think most people agree with that. It’s one area where the public is ahead of the elected officials,” Frank said in an interview with The Associated Press. “It does not appear to me to be a law that society is serious about.” Frank said he was particularly troubled by federal law enforcement agencies targeting those using marijuana as a legal medical treatment under California law. I don’t think smoking marijuana should be a federal case,” he said. “There’s no federal law against mugging Marijuana use is illegal under U.S. law, which does not recognize the medical marijuana laws in California and 11 other states.

Do you think its fair that innocent people should go to prison for 4 years simply for having a small marijuana joint on them? Do you think its worth our tax paying money to fund something that puts innocent people in prison? Now law enforcement officers agree that this prohibition for drugs and marijuana is just too costly and even getting to dangerous for them as well. The congressman are not the ones who deal with the wasteful “War on Drugs” that’s been going on for 94 years in the United States, but the police officers. A retired policeman and detective Howard Wooldridge of Lansing, Michigan is a supporter of L.E.A.P and has researched and interviewed many senators about the “War on Drugs”.  “U.S. taxpayers do not understand the incredible deception perpetrated on them by the Drug War. You might even term it a “racket” by those who stand in the power corridors of Washington, DC. “  says Wooldridge.

Officer Wooldridge talked with Senator Biden (D-DE) last month. Senator Biden (D-DE) said at a hearing in February 2008 that drug prohibition touches 60 percent of all crime in America. Wooldridge advised to dramatically reduce crime, death, disease and drug use, the U.S. must end the prohibition approach on the 10 most used drugs.
