Tahoe OG Kush

OG Is one of the strongest cannabis strains in the medical marijuana community. THC contents have been tested to be anywhere from 24-28% THC. Many Medical Marijuana patients choose OG Kush Primarily for Sleep and pain relieving attributes. The true origin of “OG Kush” isn’t really clear, too many stories which don’t relate at all. Judging by its growth structure and its similarities to other “Kush’s”, this strain actually might be a land-race Kush from the middle east of its own. From personal experience, growing out many different strains and phenotypes’ given to me by veteran growers going back all the way to the early 70’s tell me that “OG KUSH”was introduced to the US ` longer than most growers believe. There are several Phenotypes’ of OG Kush being circulated around the United States. Many popular OG versions would be the Larry, Tahoe and SFV OG (San Fernando Valley OG).

OG Kush can get easy to grow indoors once you have dialed in your environment. The vegetative stage for OG is most important when considering Yield, the attribute which OG lacks the most indoors. Super-cropping is a great technique to use with OG as it grows. This simple method can make your plant strong and ready to hold the dense buds of OG. Squeezing the stem until it crimps is the right idea. To create that even canopy, always super-crop the tallest branches of the plant, an inch under the top. The OG’s growth structure lacks the strength most cannabis strains have which is a solid stalk. “viney” and stretchy would be the best way to describe the growth. The overall goal is to create a solid canopy not to dense, but enough to absorb the distribution of light. This is where super cropping plays a vital role to achieve that “Sea of green” canopy. A tomato trellis is commonly used when growing OG, one for the vegetative stage and another if needed for the flowering stage. OG tends to triple its length once in flowering stage. Overall node spacing would be 4-6 inches depending on Light intensity near the end of the flowering Phase. It takes a full ten weeks to finish OG (including the flushing stage). The average most experienced growers keep OG in the vegetative stage is 2-3 weeks with horizontal reflected HID lighting to maximize yield. OG grows much more solid and stronger under natural sunlight. It is an enormous difference in difficulty comparing from indoor to outdoor, outdoor preferably for OG Kush.

Nutrients can play a vital role when growing any plant. Preferably to achieve maximum potency, aroma, and flavor is to grow organically. Using organic methods of fertilizer is ideal when growing any kind of medicinal or edible plant. Since we’re dealing with OG here, it is important to keep Phosphorus and Potassium levels above average in the flowering stage, using many types of guano, worm castings compost tea’s etc.

Growing the non organic way using petroleum based nutrients is the other option. It can be noted that chemical nutrients have proved to increase growth and yield but not necessarily potency or quality. Og generally needs 700-1000 PPM’s of a balanced Calcium and Magnesium enriched nutrient solution. 5.5-6.0 pH would be desirable allowing some fluctuation within the given pH range. Giving more concentration of nutrient surpassing the 1000PMM mark is not recommended due to experienced slower growth and overall lower yield. Depending on lighting, and certain nutrient, PPMs. will vary, but the general rule for most popular chemical based nutrients is under 1000PPMs.

OG is very prone to Powdery Mildew, and also hermaphidite traits when surpassing ten weeks of indoor flowering. Most breeders have encountered problems finding phenotypes having auto flowering and hermaphidite traits.

When OG is finished one can agree that the general aroma of OG is lemony/fuel, lemon aroma being the most dominant feature when it comes to the smell. The taste matches its fragrance, very lemony with earthy undertones. OG Kush is generally used by patients with sleeping disorders or for general pain relief.

NYC Diesel By: “Cakes”

An amazing bud. I’ve heard it disparaged due to it originated from a bag seed but there is no way that someone would say it to it’s face. It’s not the high (although I found it unique) or the yield or the smell that makes it special.. it’s the taste. we are talking an extra dimension same as we found with Godbud. It has the regular beautiful bouquet that all herb has but then it is like if there were a dessert served with that. not an altering of the regular beauty, just an extra separate plate of it. It’s a must try. like black and white tv turned color.

funny thing is, although the taste was like double, the high was almost like half a high. and the other half of the high was found in the other plant. there was two plants i grew and each was a different pheno (although the separation in phenos did not show early). One plant was good to smoke at first but then you needed the other to come down properly without a headache and unsatisfied feeling.

Yield was average old school indica style. none of the heavy budding or mainstem leafage you see on some of today’s hybrids. Buds formed at the ends of branches and matured quickly. a good candidate for one mid-veg pinching. not much advantage to growing it over 18 – 24″ inside (2/3m or less) as long as flavor and high remain full. non-stretchy. good eater. couldn’t take being too alkaline. keeps bud density under fluoros.

Buddah’s Sister

Buddha’s Sister is a very interesting Indica Dominant strain. The buds coloration is spread apart the bud very evenly, being light green and dark green with full blooded dark orange hairs, covered with a coat of fine looking dusty trichomes. Very nice looking bud and effect to accompany it. The smoke burned on its way down, after a cough or two, a very light headed stone, that can be felt lingering in your head, reaching the full effect after 15 minutes of soaking in, the indica and sativa blend perfectly with each other, giving you a very pleasant morning or night. This can aid patients with any body aches, sleep deprivation.

Hash Plant

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008
It’s difficult to pin-point a definitive smell to this bud. If it came down to it, I’d have to say it smells like a watered-down dollop of Heinz 57. Isn’t pleasant at all which makes me question why I bought this strain in the first place. Also, the looks aren’t very flattering, compact buds with minimal visible trichomes ( but their there).

The earthy flavor of the smoke left something to be desired, a taste similar to chlorophyll (a likely symptom of improper curing.) A good aspect about Hash Plant is its very resinous nature, so you know the end result will be just fine. The high is very nice. It starts in the chest area and gradually works its way up north. The stone lasts for more then a hour.

If you don’t like all that glitz and glamor with rock star buds like kush, then Hash Plant might be right for you. Although it’s over-priced, doesn’t taste very good, and is kind of malodorous; it tries to compensate in the effects department and does so admirably.

-Good body high
-Horrible taste/smell
-good to gain an appetite

State Laws

Friday, March 21st, 2008

All information is provided by Norml.org.

These are the laws for Medical marijuana patients for states permitting the use of medical marijuana. You can get more information about your state at Norml.org

These limits are not legally binding, other than for purposes of immunity from arrest and prosecution; they are floor amounts intended to provide a safe harbor of immunity for any patient with a bona fide recommendation to be presumed in compliance with California Health and Safety Code HS 11362.5 (Prop 215), as long as there is no indicia of sales or commercial production. The affirmative defense remains for patients in possession of larger amounts. Collectives and patients charged with intent to sell should take note of special provisions in HS 11362.7. Larger amounts may be authorized by local cities or counties.

SB 420 Statewide Default Patient Guidelines: To be as safe as possible from arrest and prosecution, patients and caregivers should stay below the medical marijuana immunity law passed by the California legislature, HS 11362.77, which sets a minimum statewide guideline of 6 mature plants OR 12 immature plants AND up to 8 ounces of processed cannabis flowers. Physician’s note exempts larger amounts. Cities and counties empowered to set guidelines that are greater than those amounts, but not less. This is explained in an open letter from the authors of the bill.

To learn more about the history of implementation and malfeasance towards California’s medical marijuana laws, visit http://www.ccrmg.org/projects.html

Federal law does not recognize medical marijuana and the Raich decision affirmed their power to prosecutes cases that are legal under state law. Federal law does not “trump” state law, it is a seperate jurisdiction.

A breakdown of CA county and local medical marijuana guidelines is available here: http://www.safeaccessnow.net/countyguidelines.htm.

Decriminalization: The state has decriminalized marijuana to some degree. Typically, decriminalization means no prison time or criminal record for first-time possession of a small amount for personal consumption. The conduct is treated like a minor traffic violation.

Medical marijuana: This state has medical marijuana laws enacted. Modern research suggests that cannabis is a valuable aid in the treatment of a wide range of clinical applications. These include pain relief, nausea, spasticity, glaucoma, and movement disorders. Marijuana is also a powerful appetite stimulant and emerging research suggests that marijuana’s medicinal properties may protect the body against some types of malignant tumors, and are neuroprotective. For more information see NORML’s Medical Marijuana section.

Hemp: This state has an active hemp industry. Hemp is a distinct variety of the plant species cannabis sativa L. that contains minimal (less than 1%) amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. Various parts of the plant can be utilized in the making of textiles, paper, paints, clothing, plastics, cosmetics, foodstuffs, insulation, animal feed, and other products. For more information see NORML’s Industrial Use section.

Dank Brownie

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

 This edible is great…by tfs

This brownie doesn’t stray far from its dank name. It packs a powerful punch that starts to take effect fairly quickly (for an edible) and lasts for several hours. Again, this ranges from person to person, based on his or her size/weight and the amount of food in the stomach at the time of digestion. In my personal case, it lasted for almost four hours. The smell doesn’t signal any potency within. Unfortunately, when eating this little delectable, it doesn’t provide the best chocolate flavor… largely due to the sizable amounts of marijuana mixed in (which you will definitely notice). Just wash it down with a glass of milk and you’ll be good to go. By Chefboyarweed

One thing I wish was on the packaging was the amount of bud used in the recipe and also the strain type. Still, it is well worth it. Overall, a great edible that doesn’t break your wallet and leave you asking, “That’s it?”

If it works for you as it did for me, you’ll be looking to increase your brownie budget.

Im sure many have tried this in our stoner community!

Alaskan ThunderFuck

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Mainly Sativa – this is a result of a Matanuska Tundra aka Alaskan ThunderFuck (usually Sagamartha Seeds) crossed with a Grey Mist. This strain looks brutal! White-Yellowish, from the extreme crystal condition and the curing process, the hairs are hard to locate amongst the monochrome trichomes! (That’s a mouth-full, eh?) The buds are about as solid as they can get; rocky and hard to break up because of their density. I really wouldn’t wanna break this up without first getting a very large tray out to collect the “good stuff” that will surely fall as you are prepping for spliffs!

-The smell is quite “danky”, with a soft musty scent Kind of like some exotic cheese. (It always makes me laugh how smells that would normally make you gag seem to be quite alluring when you apply them to ganj!)-The taste of this is strong and crystal flavoured, with hints of skunk and earth. The shear number of crystals is what dominates the taste buds but there is also a nice, rich “heady” scent of the original Indica Tundra in there too.
-This herb will have you searching for a higher being. No shit. The effects are quite heavy and sedative for a “mainly Sativa” strain but that was no deterrent to me… I really enjoyed the body-bake feelings that still didn’t leave me seated on the sofa like a cabbage. A fine medical marijuana strain indeed.

The cerebral part of the Mist really finds a place here among the other results of taking a few fat tokes of this gorgeous sample. I could see this one being highly valued by medical patients…

-Strong High
-THC content: 20%+
