Cops Against Drug Prohibition (L.E.A.P)

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

Do you think its fair that innocent people should go to prison for 4 years simply for having a small marijuana joint on them? Do you think its worth our tax paying money to fund something that puts innocent people in prison? Also that doesn’t even help? its been 94 years and the “War on Drugs” has not ended, and never will.  L.E.AP also thinks its time to stop the prohibition.

Now law enforcement officers agree that this prohibition for drugs and marijuana is just too costly and even getting to dangerous for them as well. L.E.A.P Law Enforcement Against Prohibition is organization of law enforcement officers that are trying to educate the congressman of the united states of personal experience. The congressman are not the ones who deal with the wasteful “War on Drugs” that’s been going on for 94 years in the United States, but the police officers. Everyday police must maintain public safety and by law fight against drugs for the “War on Drugs”. This organization is progressing well and is getting support all around the world.

A retired policeman and detective Howard Wooldridge of Lansing, Michigan is a supporter of L.E.A.P and has researched and interviewed many senators about the “War on Drugs”.  “U.S. taxpayers do not understand the incredible deception perpetrated on them by the Drug War. You might even term it a “racket” by those who stand in the power corridors of Washington, DC. “  says Wooldridge.

Officer Wooldridge talked with Senator Biden (D-DE) last month. Senator Biden (D-DE) said at a hearing in February 2008 that drug prohibition touches 60 percent of all crime in America. Wooldridge advised to dramatically reduce crime, death, disease and drug use, the U.S. must end the prohibition approach on the 10 most used drugs.

Barney Frank’s Second Try At Decriminalizing Marijuana

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

Barney Frank a Massachusetts Democrat said during an appearance on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher”, that he will soon introduce legislation to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana in Massachusetts. This is Franks second time trying to push the legislation to the House floor for voting, but Frank offered no details on his legislation. Frank also stated on the show that the American public has already decided that personal use of marijuana is not a problem. Will Barney Frank be successful this time around?

(The Politico) Rep. Barney Frank will soon introduce legislation to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana, the Massachusetts Democrat said during an appearance on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

Frank offered no details on his legislation, and it’s not at all clear that he could ever get it to the House floor for a vote. A Frank aide was unaware of his plans other than his statement on HBO.

Frank has introduced legisaltion in previous years to allow the use of “medical marijuana,” although the bills never made it out of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Asked by Maher as to why he would push a pot decriminalization bill now, Frank said the American public has already decided that personal use of marijuana is not a problem.

“I now think it’s time for the politicians to catch up to the public,” Frank said. “The notion that you lock people up for smoking marijuana is pretty silly. I’m going to call it the ‘Make Room for Serious Criminals’ bill.”

Government Uses Tax Payers Money For This. Will It Help?

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

How about it people, our tax money is going to fund something that doesn’t even exist. CANNABIS ADDICTION! $4 million will be used to establish the nation’s first-ever “Center on Cannabis Addiction” in La Jolla, Califronia. It has been proven time and time, that Marijuana is not addicting. Now the Government believes that the new craze is the scare of “Marijuana Addiction”.

The government hopes to sway people to believe that if the government is actually spending $4 million to establish a center on Cannabis addiction, people will believe it! “Hey if the government says so, it has to be true” right? WRONG. Even our government can be wrong. Instead of using that money to go to a “Cannabis Addiction Center” why not fund it for the schools? or even California libraries. There are so many other USEFULL things that can be done with $4 million. The government now notices that Marijuana is becoming popular. As the Cannabis culture and community grow, there also will be another side trying to suppress it.

Crist Wants To Strengthen Marijuana Laws

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Florida is having a very hard time decrriminalizing Marijuana. Miami Herald article on failed drug war. FL. Gov. Crist’s hypocrisy. Opinion poll. 94% for decriminalization. If Florida atleast decriminalizes marijuana it will be a BIG step for for the east coast to end the prohibition against marijuana. But instead Florida wants to make Marijuana laws more strict in the thought to promote more fear into the public so that no one even dares to speak of Marijuana. Florida will surly be one of the hardest states to budge on the laws of Marijuana. Governor Charlie Crist said he doesn’t support legislative plans to review whether to lessen penalties for some crimes such as non-violent drug possession

Other news. Florida congress wants to make growing 25 or more plants a mandatory 25 yrs in prison.

What kind of people are on Digg.com?

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Hey everyone, Its just interesting to me to find out what kind of people are really on digg.com. As I was searching through the “top Diggs” list, it came to me quick that most people like the most weirdest thing. I’m sure many of you can remember the “how to protect your self from a mountain lion” digg. This digg only had a photo of a sign with some editing done to it, and yet it made it to 2500+ digs.  Here is the link to it What To Do If You Encounter A Mountain Lion. Remember I’m not trying to bash anyone, I just dont understand what is so great about this digg, compared to something more important and interesting. I also noticed when people comment, its very immature and childish replies but there are also many reasonable comments. Are the majority of the people on digg the younger category or older? I mean respectively, there are a lot of great posts and amazing stories that do deserve the digs. But just some stories I don’t understand. Is there something I’m missing? Can anyone inform me on this…Is it a “cool” factor to post up random stories that really dont make sense? or does it really interest people on how to protect your self from a mountain lion or diggs about just random topics fun? Don’t get me wrong, once again, there are many great posts, but also really stupid ones. I know, “we all need some stupid ones once in a while” but i just dont understand the 2500 diggs part.

Take the poll please and lets find out who really is on digg…

Canada Fights Cannabis By Cutting Power Lines

Friday, March 21st, 2008

This has been going on for a while, and I just want people to know what it is that is occurring around the world relating to the war on cannabis. In some parts of Canada, the police know many growers and their operations. So they cut the power to many of the areas and houses or grow sectors to try to battle with the cultivation of cannabis in Canada. The laws passed which allows the country to analyze homes and business’s for irregular energy use. 80-90 analyzations take place each month on homes, in separate suburbs and communities.

I can’t believe that the Canadian government is actually doing this. This is so wrong, these people pay their taxes, bills, and anything else the country asks for. I don’t think this is a civil way to handle a situation such as this. If this kind of acts enter the United States, there will surly be great rejection, and civil disorder. Isn’t this a privacy issue? Canadian residence should fight back. Just the many annoying ways of Marijuana Prohibition. Which will surly prove itself a wasteful both economically and socially.

State Laws

Friday, March 21st, 2008

All information is provided by Norml.org.

These are the laws for Medical marijuana patients for states permitting the use of medical marijuana. You can get more information about your state at Norml.org

These limits are not legally binding, other than for purposes of immunity from arrest and prosecution; they are floor amounts intended to provide a safe harbor of immunity for any patient with a bona fide recommendation to be presumed in compliance with California Health and Safety Code HS 11362.5 (Prop 215), as long as there is no indicia of sales or commercial production. The affirmative defense remains for patients in possession of larger amounts. Collectives and patients charged with intent to sell should take note of special provisions in HS 11362.7. Larger amounts may be authorized by local cities or counties.

SB 420 Statewide Default Patient Guidelines: To be as safe as possible from arrest and prosecution, patients and caregivers should stay below the medical marijuana immunity law passed by the California legislature, HS 11362.77, which sets a minimum statewide guideline of 6 mature plants OR 12 immature plants AND up to 8 ounces of processed cannabis flowers. Physician’s note exempts larger amounts. Cities and counties empowered to set guidelines that are greater than those amounts, but not less. This is explained in an open letter from the authors of the bill.

To learn more about the history of implementation and malfeasance towards California’s medical marijuana laws, visit http://www.ccrmg.org/projects.html

Federal law does not recognize medical marijuana and the Raich decision affirmed their power to prosecutes cases that are legal under state law. Federal law does not “trump” state law, it is a seperate jurisdiction.

A breakdown of CA county and local medical marijuana guidelines is available here: http://www.safeaccessnow.net/countyguidelines.htm.

Decriminalization: The state has decriminalized marijuana to some degree. Typically, decriminalization means no prison time or criminal record for first-time possession of a small amount for personal consumption. The conduct is treated like a minor traffic violation.

Medical marijuana: This state has medical marijuana laws enacted. Modern research suggests that cannabis is a valuable aid in the treatment of a wide range of clinical applications. These include pain relief, nausea, spasticity, glaucoma, and movement disorders. Marijuana is also a powerful appetite stimulant and emerging research suggests that marijuana’s medicinal properties may protect the body against some types of malignant tumors, and are neuroprotective. For more information see NORML’s Medical Marijuana section.

Hemp: This state has an active hemp industry. Hemp is a distinct variety of the plant species cannabis sativa L. that contains minimal (less than 1%) amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. Various parts of the plant can be utilized in the making of textiles, paper, paints, clothing, plastics, cosmetics, foodstuffs, insulation, animal feed, and other products. For more information see NORML’s Industrial Use section.

Doctor/Lawyer couple 5 years in Fed. prison

Thursday, March 20th, 2008
I love marijuana, but I love this country as well, and respect it’s laws. I think this couple just got careless, and greed got the best of them. Making a million dollars under 3 years is not exactly “ends-meat.” I can see how making a living off of marijuana can be a great thing, but I feel these people took advantage of the whole situation, and even though I feel medical marijuana should be legalized, the laws which put them in jail should still be respected, until one day, hopefully soon, medical marijuana is legalized.

MAR 20
— (Sacramento, CA) - United States Attorney McGregor W. Scott and Drug Enforcement Administration Assistant Special Agent in Charge Gordon Taylor, announced that Dr. MARION P. FRY, 50, a medical doctor, and DALE C. SCHAFER, 52, a lawyer, husband and wife, of Cool, California, were each sentenced on March 19, 2008, by United States District Judge Frank C. Damrell, Jr. to 60 months in federal prison. On August 16, 2007, a federal jury found the defendants guilty of conspiracy to sell marijuana, to grow over 100 marijuana plants, and to sell over 100 marijuana plants.

This case was the product of long-term investigations by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Assistant United States Attorney Anne Pings, who prosecuted the case, Judge Damrell, in sentencing the defendant, stated that he took “no pleasure in imposing sentence,” remarking on the congressionally mandated five-year sentence. The court observed that with their “passion for the drug … their judgment got clouded” and their “self-aggrandizement took over.” The evidence presented at trial showed that from 1999 until the end of 2001, when the DEA served a judicially authorized search warrant at their residential property, the defendants sold dried marijuana and marijuana plants from their office in Cool to persons acquiring recommendations from Dr. FRY for use of marijuana, for a fee. These recommendations enabled the holder to avoid arrest under California’s “medicinal” marijuana law, Proposition 215. The proposition provides a legal defense to state (not federal) criminal charges when marijuana is possessed for treatment of a serious medical condition.

Improving The Economy - Legelise Cannabis

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

This is a very interesting article. This is how America can tremendously increase our countries economy. By far will be the best stimulus the nation would ever get.  By just legalising Marijuana it would lead to so many drops in spending and increase in revenue for the country. Here is a little bit of facts from the article:

How about something new? Legalize marijuana for economic reasons. It is estimated that the legalization of marijuana in the U.S. would lead to a $7.7 billion drop in law enforcement costs and generate $6.2 billion in tax revenue. This is a net $13.9 billion improvement to U.S. government budgets, not to mention the fact that the dollars being spent on marijuana would be included in the consumer spending category of GDP, which would improve economic measures. What the study done by Harvard visiting professor Jeffrey Miron doesn’t take into account is the improved quality of life which arises from less militant policing of a substance that’s use is fairly widespread and has less negative effects on both individual health and society than alcohol. In 2006, there were 829,627 arrests for marijuana, which makes up 43.9% of total drug arrests in the U.S. Of the 829,627 arrested for marijuana-related charges, 738,916 were for possession alone. This is in direct contradiction to the alleged philosophy of the Drug Enforcement Agency, which states, “DEA targets criminals engaged in cultivation and trafficking…”. The statistics seem to contradict the mission stated by the DEA.

This is just ridiculous, what is this country fearing? Is it really up to the government to decide or is there some intervention from a different source?

Marijuana Can Help With The Flu?

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

It has been proven a fact that smoking marijuana can lower your body temperature by 2-4 degrees, the human body temperature should be around the range of 97.6° to 98.8°, around that range is considered normal. When you catch the flu your normal body temperature gets as high as 39 °C (approximately 103 °F). When patients smoke medical marijuana they can lower they’re body temperature by 2-4°, which leads to your body temperature being around a solid 98-99° area. Much better then being over in the 100° area. Hey I’m not guaranteeing anything here but that’s just my two cents.
There have been times where many people get the flu’s and reach 104 and even 105 F which is DEADLY. Who knew that taking a puff of marijuana or even eating an edible of some cannabis could lower the temperature of the body. Definitely something most hospitals and doctors should be researching. Here is a great article that discusses the other various ways marijuana can help the medical field.
